GIRL POWER

This is the generation of girl power and  Limeapple is all about girls. We celebrate positive lifestyles, empower girls to do anything that they set their minds to, and teach them that ‘anything’ can be anything.

Today, there are many women and girls who actively rise up and prove that we are capable of great things (which can sometimes start as little things) .  Here are a list of three of some stand out girls who empower, inspire and brave doubt and opposition :

1) Malala Yousafzai

Malala is the voice of change and bravery in face of fear and adversity. In 2012, 16 year old Malala was shot by the Taliban for standing by the right for girls to be educated.  In North America, education is a privilege that we tend to overlook, when there are around 66 million girls in the world being denied the same right.  Malala continues to voice her cause for giving girls the right to a quality education. She is an inspiring role model for everyone who believes that we are all capable of making the change we wish to see in the world.

2) Missy Franklin

At just 19 years old, Missy Franklin has won four gold Olympic Medals. Missy is an inspiring athlete for all young girls – competing at her first international event at the age of 14. She headed straight for college out of the summer Olympics and is known for her upbeat, positive attitude.  At a young age, Missy has set world records as a result of her hard work and determination.

3) Talia Castellano

Diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer at the age of 7, Talia stood strong and continued to actively pursue her passion recording makeup tutorials and cancer related causes on YouTube and inspired a huge following. She passed away in July 2013, but is remembered for being a positive individual who kept pushing forwards. A bright optimist, Talia was made an honorary Covergirl. She leaves behind Talia’s Legacya charity organization seeking a cure for childhood cancer.

These are just some girls who have either made a remarkable difference, or be a source of motivation at a young age in social causes and sports .

Who are some girls that have inspired you ?
